Branson West Airport Nears Completion

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

The Branson West Airport runway is paved and ready to receive visitors to Table Rock Lake and the Branson area - another huge advantage for an area that already has the tourism lead in the midwest.

This airport in Branson West combined with the new Branson Airport will, in the long run, create a massive influx of tourists, pilots and upper income traffic throughout the ozarks.  We applaud the Branson West Mayor and City and Stone County officials who worked together these long years to get this airport up and running.  According to the FBO, the airport is only a few months away from being open for business.  The small aircraft and light sport aircraft craze is just taking off and having more places to land will hasten our charge as a people to air transportation as it is naturally more efficient and cost effective, especially around the Ozarks.  Homes for sale with land are at a premium now as are lake front homes.  The number of homes sold is increasing steadily as we slug through this economic downturn, but recent trends have indicated some hope for more home sales and strengthening prices.  Our chief economist thinks we have hit bottom and have begun a long slow comeback unfolding over the next ten years.  Homes do sell, even mobile homes and custom homes.  Homes of all kinds and sizes are selling, just at a slower pace than the last 20 years.

First-Time Home Buyer: You may qualify and not even know it.

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Who is considered to be a first-time home buyer? It could be you.

The law defines “first-time home buyer” as a buyer who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase. For married taxpayers, the law tests the homeownership history of both the home buyer and his/her spouse.

For example, if you have not owned a home in the past three years but your spouse has owned a principal residence, neither you nor your spouse qualifies for the first-time home buyer tax credit. However, unmarried joint purchasers may allocate the credit amount to any buyer who qualifies as a first-time buyer, such as may occur if a parent jointly purchases a home with a son or daughter.
